Any recommendations for a GPS?
I use a Garmin 76C. It's not the current model, which is the 76Cx. It's a color display mapping device. It floats, and has marine mapping. It's a little on the big side for a handheld. It can talk to a computer over a USB or a serial link. I find it useful for bicycle touring and general road use. It's accurate as far as I can tell. Consensus opinion among bicylists is that this is the one to have. The 76CSx has a barometric altimeter as well but it is harder on batteries. The non-mapping devices are considerably less expensive. The maps aren't exactly inexpensive, either. US Topo is a good one. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
