An amusing tirade... I've read it before and found it quite funny. But I'll make some semi-intelligent comments on it anyways. Everything in /var/qmail is ignorant, I agree. I really dislike it.. now djb things everything should be in /packages... he has very odd directory layouts, and I don't understand his reasoning for them. The .qmail- thing... big deal. It's like postfix's .forward file support. fastforward provides the same thing as /etc/aliases or whatever it is in postfix/sendmail (aliases or aliases.conf, can't recall). So it's called .qmail instead of .forward... it's an ego thing maybe, but not *that* big of a deal. djb's license sucks. Plain and simple. His attitude does as well. I know this firsthand, having spoken with him on one occassion (exchanged 3 emails, received 2). But, having said that, the guy is an extremely good programmer... I'll give him credit for that. Finally, the point on using bind9 instead of djbdns is, well, silly. I'd like to see bind9 in production for a year or two with a few heavy audits and some good white hats smashing it to pieces for a bit before I'm ready to switch from something safe and reliable like djbdns to something with a crappy history like bind9 (and I don't for a second believe it was written entirely from scratch either). Besides, Vixie is just as ignorant as djb... aren't most of these same software authors, tho? Can't tell me that Wietse doesn't have an attitude problem at times... I can say that the author of Exim is a pretty darn nice guy tho... =) Anyways, that's my $0.02CAD, and my last post on the thread here. Feel free to discuss qmail with me on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list where it's more or less on-topic... =) -- MandrakeSoft Security; http://www.mandrakesecure.net/ "lynx -source http://www.freezer-burn.org/bios/vdanen.gpg | gpg --import" 1024D/FE6F2AFD 88D8 0D23 8D4B 3407 5BD7 66F9 2043 D0E5 FE6F 2AFD Current Linux kernel 2.4.18-6mdk uptime: 4 days 13 hours 5 minutes.
