I've heard the same thing about the pepper bumps. I never knew if it was true 
or not. I decided to try to do some research and I looked it up. Basically, the 
myth is not true. Peppers are a fruit because it has seeds. Anything with seeds 
is considered a fruit. Fruits, including peppers, have no gender. The bumps do 
not mean it is a certain sex. It is just due to the variety of the pepper. Here

Someone told me a pepper (green, red, yellow) with 3 bumps on the bottom means 
it is maile & used for cooking. Four bumps on the bottom means it is female & 
to be eaten raw, as in salads.
