Yes, because you're not losing anything by slicing them. Still, slice them. (I use an egg slicer for this to get even slices) The recipe calls for sliced mushrooms for a reason, and sometimes that reason is because you want things cooked through properly. The larger a chunk of anything the longer it's going to take to cook, and the higher the chance that the outside might get overcooked.
