I put frozen meat in the crock pot all of the time. The crock has never cracked. It just takes longer to cook, that's all. I even put it on high. I also defrost meat on the counter for a few hours too. It is still very cold when I cook it, as if it just came out of the refrigerator. -------------------------------------------- On Sun, 11/17/13, Charles Rivard <[email protected]> wrote:
Subject: Re: [CnD] question about cooking meat in the crockpot To: [email protected] Date: Sunday, November 17, 2013, 1:59 PM The instruction manual for my crock pot suggested that you put it in the crock pot and set the temperature on low until it is thawing, but did not mention the threat of bacteria. Plus, if cooked to the FDA suggested internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit, bacteria will be killed. Using the lowest setting will make sure that the coldness will not crack the crock. Once the roast has been thawed, you can then raise the temperature setting. --- Shepherds are the best beasts, but Labs are a close second. ----- Original Message ----- From: "janbrown" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 17, 2013 12:53 PM Subject: Re: [CnD] question about cooking meat in the crockpot > I have no interest of dying because I'm too lazy or slothful or silly to defrost the meat overnight in the refrigerator before putting it in the slow cooker > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Nov 17, 2013, at 10:45 AM, "Charles Rivard" <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using a crock pot, though?
