The point is not to cook them very long at all. Tortillas crisp up fast,
especially in the deep fryer. Your insides are already cooked. Burnt
tortillas are awful, so don't fry them long.

How long do you fry them?  You say for a couple seconds, but that wouldn't
seem long enough, as, to me, a couple is two.
