It does NOT climb like a homesick angle. I like it up at 12,500 feet -- the air is smooth, the traffic is light, the fuel mileage is great when you lean, and you often have a choice of which airport to glide to in case of an engine stoppage. My measured speed at 2400 rpm is almost exactly 100 mph. I think I'll start firewalling it in cruise in the future. It certainly won't be straining the engine with such a flat prop and I'll pick up a bit more speed. > > my prop shop tells me to expect 30-40 rpm per 1 inch of pitch static = > thrust... > what are you all getting static full thrust and max level flight and = > what can i expect with 48 pitch It's about 2 mph per inch of prop pitch. My static rpm on the 7146 is almost exactly 2225, the max allowed by the type certificate. [Aircraft Specification A-787, Propeller and Propeller Accessories, paragraph 4.] And, the static rpm is the only limitation on the propeller listed in the type certificate so I seem to be legal. --------------------------------- to unsubscribe send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
