Tim.
It is always great to help :)
Tell me what you will be using the Horizon for ? Which degree of turn do
you
want to use with your Horizontal Gyro when having to execute a 180 degree
turn?
30 degree , 45 degree? How long ? Do you want to fly precision approaches?
The T&B is your simple helpful device for timed turns. You obviously had
one in
your panel before because of the small venturi mounted.
Why would you want to add drag with a bigger venturi and add weight with a
bigger instrument if you can not and do not intend to use it ??
I was reading ones that in the older days of flying a T&B, vertical speed
and
compass have been considered a full panel.
And the same article spoke about the flight instructor who set up the
plane in a
way that the Horizon would show straight and level , while the whole plane
was
sinking .....
For me a vertical speed is of a much bigger importance than that Horizon
while
climbing and in a cross country...
Tim, do what you want - you seem to be an experienced pilot after 15
years of
flying.
I am expressing only my personal thoughts. You do not have to listen to
me.
