I think that's a little extreme Larry.

My coupe is currently IFR certified (full panel), and I occassionally file
IFR in it. Although the coupe is a little under powered, it's hard to see
the differance between a certified coupe with a full panel and a similar C
150, and the coupe is a good stable airplane.

That being said, I would NEVER deliberately fly into ANY significant
weather, especially involving precipitation and turbulence. Obviously,
just
because the airplane and the pilot are current doesn't mean they can just
dive into a level 3 storm, or conditions where icing might occur in an
Ercoupe. That IS nuts.

The airplane, however, doesn't know it's in the clouds - it flys just the
same. I enjoy a few clouds when my flight is well planned, and I'm in my
comfort zone. What matters is that the pilot is capable, knows his and the
airplane's limitations and stays well within them.

It's nice to be able to call center and break through some thin scud or a
cloud layer, but I would never fly the coupe where minimums were at all
close, and NEVER into a storm under any circumstances.

Just flying IFR in the coupe doesn't make you nuts, but what you have to
spend to make it IFR capable might!

PS I realy agree about the turn and bank.
