Roy, I think you misunderstand the thumbscrews. All it takes is one turn
to release mine, which, I'm sure, takes about the same amount of time to
pull your clip and chain.

Just my opinion, but I would not want to be undoing thumbscrews if I had
to exit the aircraft in an emergency. We use a "clip" with a short (4 in)
chain attached to the window handles. This prevents the windows from
opening more than 3-4 in. The clip and chain are such that in an
emergency they can be "pulled" off with a minimum of force.

Randy, there should be a friction lock on each side just above the window
ledge. Turn the thumbscrew clockwise to tighten, counter clockwise to
loosen. If your thumbscrews are missing you can get new ones from
Univair.

Is there an inside window latch at the top where the two sliding windows
come together?

It seems I flew in a coupe years back that had something like that. My
original one does not hold and the windows "drift" down. I am sure this
is not an uncommon problem, I just do not know how to correct it.
