Another thing that works great is a spring loaded pin that just slips in a small hole in the window frame. Dick & Nancy [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: Roy D. If I were to screw in the thumbscrews the window was "fixed." Roy -----Original Message----- From: MAGIC VAC [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, December 26, 2002 5:35 PM To: Roy D. Stubbs II; Sydney Cohen; Randy Helm Cc: Ercoupe Subject: Re: [COUPERS-TECH] window latch As far as I could figure it out, the thumb screws just increased the friction on the windows, making them harder to slide. They did not physically restrict the opening of the windows. I tried to install them on my Coupe, but the friction part was missing and the thumb screws didn't even get close to the plastic. We use a "clip" with a short (4 in) chain attached to the window handles. This prevents the windows from opening more than 3-4 in. The clip and chain are such that in an emergency they can be "pulled" off with a minimum of force. Turn the thumbscrew clockwise to tighten, counter clockwise to loosen. If your thumbscrews are missing you can get new ones from Univair. It seems I flew in a coupe years back that had something like that. My original one does not hold and the windows "drift" down. I am sure this is not an uncommon problem, I just do not know how to correct it.
