Claude, it might be good to mention that all 52 ohm coax is not created equal, especially at these outputs and frequency. I always use Belden R-58 UG with the braided shield and stranded core, Even though the impendance is the same, I would never use the Radio Shack CB type RG-58 for VHF transmitting, especially on my aircraft.
I also put the transponder spike in the center section under the seats. There is a place where it would be really convienient to use two BNCs and a barrel connector to remove the tray more easily for service, but I've refrained since I figured the insertion loss would be really bad. Is that correct, even assuming the BNCs are installed well? What's your specs for separation of comm antennas, if there are two?
