AH's are for wooses.  Needle, ball and airspeed is the way to go

Actually, in the old days, altimeter, t&b, and vsi was a "full panel".  
Airspeed and VSI back each other up for pitch, and T of  T&B and compass
back 
up each other up for bank.  The ball is pretty bullet proof, and granted
not 
much use in a 2 axis control plane.
