I ordinarily don't comment too much on arguments about what's best,
or what is needed, etc---however.

I recently completed my requirements for the Wings 2000 program.
Among the requirements are an hour of instrument dual.

With no operating attitude indicator, flying the Coupe with reference to
the T & B and air speed is ridiculously easy. Recovery from unusual
attitudes is a snap. Level the wings & capture the airspeed and your
back in business. As a cap to the hour, my CFI played ATC and vectored
me back to home plate. When Jim said take off your hood, we were over
the runway.

With the coupled rudders which keep the ball centered, a person who
blundered into IMC would have an excellent chance of being around
to face the consequences from Uncle Sam.

In the Pacific Northwest, MVFR is the frequent norm, should I screw up
and blunder into the soup,( AND keep my cool), the T & B would be a
life saver.

Cheers:
