The wings do not have to be recovered by an A & P, but you must have the work signed off by a qualified mechanic. Therefore, it would behoove you to find a cooperative mechanic BEFORE you start the recovering project (if you are going to do the work). Have the mechanic give you specific guidelines on how the work is to be done and at what points it needs to be inspected. I believe you can obtain all the required materials for about $500. You must make sure you use the proper dope (Nitrate) for the initial covering in order to have the fabric adhere to the metal. Let us know how you make out. You may want to check the archives. As I remember there was an instance of an improper recover job last year and it cost the owner big $$ to get it all fixed.
