The Courier-IMAP+Cone combination. When you put the two together, you get magic. They use a custom protocol to talk to each other, instead of plain-vanilla IMAP.
The first thing you need to do is make sure that you're running the current version of courier-imap.The latest port available for FreeBSD is 4.0.6I see there is a 4.1, but what would upgrading to that version do to help troubleshoot?
Upgrading to the latest version will fix a number of bugs in the Courier/Cone specific wire protocol.
