Actually, hints mode hasn't changed but the players that enter it now have experienced the new tutorial first - so it's very well worth testing. Also, I've read one or two accounts on the Something Awful thread how people have started playing in 0.6/0.7, first doing the tutorial and then proceeding to the hints mode, and those accounts sounded very positive.
