Thats an amazingly good price if it includes the resurfacing and the
parts/labor for swapping the head gasket. I thought I had a bad
headgasket not too long ago, and most shops I contacted were quoting
$800 minimum, most were in the area of $1K. Mechanic prices are out of
control... thank god I can do about 3/4 of the work I need to do on my
CRX.

Infinite Motion said they would do it for $700 (USD).  The owner of the shoppe said he would knock off an additional 10% for being the President of the CRX Owners Group.  :^)

My regular shoppe who I've sent my cars to over the years said that he could match that cost and was actually able to come in lower.

But you're right, most of the quotes I got was on average $900 (USD).  This is also the first time I've enlisted a shoppe to do a head gasket R&R.  I've done them in the past myself and just took the cylinder head(s) to my local machine shoppe and had them do whatever they needed (usually around $200).

In this case, I just do not have the time and I fear that if I don't act on it quickly, it will just sit in my garage for God knows how long...  :^P

Don't ever sell your car Robert, from the pics I've seen it's way too
nice to sell.

Thanks... Quite honestly... I had only thought I would keep the car for no more than a year before I grew tired of it and looked for another project car.  Were what, 3, 4 years now and I still have it?  :^)

Selling would be my very last option and that would only be if it started to become a money pit.  I only paid $2200 for the car and not including all that I've done to it, the only major repairs I spent was on the transmission rebuild (back when I first got the car and I really didn't know anyone) which sunk me for $1200 (long story, but it's still running strong...).  So this is the second "major" repair that I've had to do.

Another reason for not going with a B18 swap at this time is because we want to do a room addition to the house and while the cost of a B18 swap is not all that much when compared to a room addition, the wife also wants me to seriously look into getting another (new) car.  And so we really can't afford (right now) to have a project car and since the stock engine still pulls very strong, $600 to keep it running strong for another couple of years is a bargain.
