Ed - there is a setting in the config.txt file of VDos which controls screen size. I have mine set to =30 and it's a terrific size to work with but some might like it larger, smaller. My issue with VDos is that it's taking me a long time to do imports or run reports. As an example, a report analyzing 900,000 voters takes about 5 minutes in a DOS box on my Vista machine but after one hour in VDos it's only about 2/3 of the way through. Jos has sent me some utility to examine what's going on. For smaller databases and to work on them VDos is working very nicely.
