It is indeed the "0xC0000142" in both cases. Exact error messages are:
Using f-prot.exe command on SCANFILE line of virus.cfg file NTVDM.exe - Application error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xC0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.
Using fpcmd.exe command on SCANFILE line of virus.cfg file fpcmd.exe - Application error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xC0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.
Ah. In that case, F-Prot.exe vs. fmcmd.exe isn't going to help much (although I'd stay with fpcmd.exe to be safe).
The first step here is to go to http://www.declude.com/dq.htm and read the page there, if you haven't already, and see if any of the suggestions there help. Unfortunately, according to the best information from Microsoft, it's impossible for this error to occur with the latest version of Declude Virus starting F-Prot (meaning that Microsoft isn't supplying all the information required to deal with this limitation).
