Yes, we (Michele and I) are working on this. We will probably go with the print 
+ sign + scan procedure :)

I've contacted the other person (single commit) and gave him the jira 
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DEFT-75) issue that now contains the 
extracted patch.
