Sorry to delay the anwser. There are some differences between the portuguese
of Brazil and the European portuguese. In fact, we Brazilians don't like
much the European Portuguese, so this is the main reason that I start the
translation.
I could not test the translation because my environment is a mess. Since I
was working on a older version of ArgoUML for the collaborative prototype I
was afraid to test the files on the older version. But the way, I show the
collaborative prototype on a recent conference (November 2006, on
CollaborateCom 2006 - http://www.collaboratecom.org/ ) and the attenders
just love it.
However, to translate .properties files I got the new source version and
start transtlating. Since I use the search/replace operationon only file, I
don't recall whose file, I wonder if the translation will work.
One last thing: I apologize for sending to the developer's list the .zip
file with the translated files. I just don't know how to proceed after the
translation. Should I post the files on this sub-project:

i18n/? I'm not sure whether they are doing European Portugese or Brazilian

hopefully the pt_BR translation would be able to reuse much of the pt_PT

Maintaining the translations is an ongoing process, so a little lag isn't a
big deal, but let's get the basic messages right before we ask folks to
translate them.
Messages of the form:
menu.popup.create-dependency = Depends On
where the rest of the message is composed using string concatentation in
Java don't work. The message needs to be something of the form "{0} -> {1}"
or "{0} depends on {1}" or something similar so that the translators can
control the placement of the variable elements. This isn't an issue just
for right-to-left and ideographic languages, but even western languages
which have different grammatical structures.
