I suggest to have a look at http://logging.apache.org/chainsaw/index.html but I did not look into details yet. There are maybe
better solutions...

This is a good idea. I don't know the technologies all that well for scanning
logs, but we can have this put in place and have
automated messages sent each day. Does anyone know how we'd go about doing
this? If no one else has any great ideas on the way,
