FYI I've created the release branch for 1.6 and updated the 1.x trunk version to 1.7-SNAPSHOT. Have some builds running but I expect there's some version updates I've missed, if you notice any problems let me know or just go ahead and fix them. It'll be a while till the 1.6 branch is cleaned up ready to release so feel free to help or make any changes to the branch for now.
