Hi *,

http://www.openoffice.org/files/documents/28/2423/prototype_j1.png

I'd love to see something like that as a homepage-graphic to the
occasion of a new homepage design :-)

(Well, if it is the same time like the OOo 2.0 release, this won't work)

my comments below are not directly related to the proposal itself, but
about the homepage in general.

(I agree with Daniel and others that we need a prominent Download-link)
The download-button is not advertising OOo (IMHO).
I think Daniel refers to "In the Press" and "Articles"

I kind of agree and disagree at the sime time (because many things may be
put in the "New to OOo"-Box)

+1 (again as general statement, not related to the proposal itself)

I cannot tell how the proposal will invite new users to the community
(only the tabs and the native-lang-box seem project-related)

Nevertheless I'd love to see a link to the FAQ & IssueZilla on the main
page.

+1 - not because the user will know that he typed in the right page, but
because I really think that OOo needs such a statement (OOo is ..)

+1 News should be on the front page since otherwise they won't get
noticed in a comparable way. (Users hit the Homepage more often than a
dedicated "news" page)

This is what the other proposals refer to as "Media Kit".

So I have to admit that I totally agree with the ideas behind the
proposal, although I sill like murbs proposal better.
No reason why these two should not be combined :-)
