When building ocaml-mlgmpidl in Rawhide:

I looked at the texlive spec file, and ... yup.

However it does appear to still contain ecrm1000.tfm, so why couldn't
it be installed in the Rawhide buildroot?

I think this is now required:

BuildRequires: texlive-ec

to replace the old BuildRequires on tex(ecrm1000.tfm).

Thanks, let's see if that works ...

I still think there is maybe a bug in texlive here?

Bug or feature, it seems to be intentional as per the discussion in the
texlive change. Apparantly, setting up these virtual provides takes a
lot of work. As a consequence, packagers will have to switch to package
name based requires at least for some things. (style files should
still be provided virtually, but I don't think all are.)

This is really unfortunate :(. It's a really useful mechanism to install missing files.
