Hi,

since both CoCs of openzfs and illumos share the same term, I crosspost:

".... participation regardless of race, ...."

"Race" is a term that itself already stems from at least some form of
racism. There are no "races" in the homo sapiens sapiens subspecies, to
which all living humans belong. Especially as a German, I'm always bewildered
to see this term circulating in the american culture, even in official forms,
where I always enter "homo sapiens sapiens" when asked for "race". I'm
wondering why nobody stumbled about that term already.

Even the english Wikipedia flags that term as at least questionable, the
german page clearly states it is obsolete. So please eradicate that term from
the CoC as well as from your communication in general. You may use 'appearance'
instead if you really need that.

Thanks !

The OpenZFS Code of Conduct Working Group reviewed the Code of Conduct and
related documents. We've made some proposed changes (attached), and this is the
beginning of the 1 week community comment period.

Please reply to this thread (or send email to cond...@open-zfs.org

with any comments to the proposed changes by *5pm US PT on Fri, Oct 25*.

Revisions to the Code of Conduct included suggestions from community members as
well as grammatical and other clean up. Some highlights:

  * The list of attributes / groups we highlight as being welcome in the
community are now consistent in the 2 places they appear in the CoC.
  * Related note that we removed "family status" from the list. While we all are
strongly supportive families, we thought it didn't apply to this community.
  * Added 2 examples for "Be careful in the words that you choose" in the
    Guidelines section.
  * Reporting Guide: Updated the introduction to the Reporting Guide and added
an introductory sentence to Information to Include in Your Report section.

Other updates are smaller, grammatical or clarification changes.

Thanks!
