I've applied and compiled in the DDNS patches for Bind 8.2 and DHCPD
2.0b1pl18 (Thanks to everyone who contributed to these). So far, two
"problems" (may be config issues) are apparent:
1) It looks like the system is trying to add PTR records to zone files unique
to each of the addresses assigned (the lines wrap):
apollo dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 156.121.4.242 from \
00:c0:4f:6c:83:ff via hme0
apollo dhcpd: add succeeded: APONICKG.nyed.uscourts.gov. \
IN A 156.121.4.242
apollo dhcpd: cleaning all PTR RRs for 242.4.121.156.in-addr.arpa.
apollo dhcpd: dd failed: 242.4.121.156.in-addr.arpa. IN \
PTR APONICKG.nyed.uscourts.gov.
apollo dhcpd: DHCPACK on 156.121.4.242 to 00:c0:4f:6c:83:ff \
via hme0
The "add failed" line should have tried to add the address to
"4.121.156.in-addr.arpa".
Is this a configuration problem?
2) There are some weird message about not finding my name servers (they
resolve OK
with other programs):
apollo dhcpd: apollo.nyed.uscourts.gov: host unknown.
apollo dhcpd: psnyedp.nyed.uscourts.gov: host unknown.
If anyone else has seen these, knows how I should fix my config, or knows
that it can't be fixed rights now, please let me know.
