hello osrs ,ecs and william,
William, you are right to a great extent, but we are irnoring a important
fact, which is coming up again and again.
I have conversed with the other registrars just to understand what exactly
they are doing.
they dont need any volume commitment, belive me. you just simply go and
start doing business for $6.95
Now we come to the fact of value addition.
We all understand that domain names are to add value. When someone else
reduced the price to $8 or something, I always stood by OpenSRS and am still
with hem. However they cannot ignore the fact that their competitors are
catching up as many of them now provide client side software, no commitment
and much lower price.
Now, even I accept that its a value game, and domain cannot be the sole
source of earning for any organisation, try to understand my point of view
as well as many other guys who are here. Why shall someone spend $10 to add
the same value, which he can add for $7. For example, a company X gives
domain name free with hosting. Why not they want to save that extra $3 if
they can ? It is not the issue of the implementation of OpenSRs service, but
the problem is procurement.
I am happy with OpenSRS, they reduce the price or not. Many are, but many
are not. I have just tried to speak to few people who are not happy and
other registrars to reflect their views. I am working with OpenSRS and
continue to do so for many other reasons. But the reason for the guy who
wanna go and who is facing all the flaming (sometime)-- i am just trying to
put as what is in his mind. I hope OpenSRS will either add something special
or reduce the price in near future :) their decision afterall !
Please do not flame on this post even if you wish to, since I have written
it with lot of consideration, no mention of any other registrars by name.
Again pricing issue has been discussed, since it is of interest of each and
every registrar as well. Sorry if someone finds it wrong. You can flame me
personally, but please not on the list.
