This is the reason we no longer use OpenSRS for new
registrations.
There are other registrars that will return the domain names
to you when a chargeback occurs.
You are still stuck with the domain names, but sometimes you
are able to sell them and recoup your loses.
And sometimes the person making the chargeback "discovers"
their "error" when they lose the use of the domain name and
wants it back. We then charge them a fee to return the
domain name, which covers our expenses in the chargeback.
And yes, William, this is legal. At least two other
Registrars allow this that have been in business as long as
OpenSRS and neither one has lost their accredition. It just
depends on how the contract is drawn up that is on the web
site.
