Hello List,

It seems like freessl.com certs signed by http://www.usertrust.com -
there is section RAOnline, and one of such freessl cert, which i saw
today, also mention them, but after 15 minutes of digging at site i
still don't know whom i should kill to become a Registration Agent.

LT> www.freessl.com - appears to be a "division" of www.geotrust.com - the
LT> Renewal Prcing for freessl is listed as "TrueSite" in their table comparing
LT> Verisign & Thawte - rather than a dollar amount.

LT> "TrueSite" is a Service/product sold by GeoTrust - "Promotionally priced at
LT> $59" - which appears to be an online Cert verification service (amongst
LT> other things) -

LT> So - A renewal of your FreeSSL Sert looks to be dependent upon signing up
LT> for theit $59 per year service - just remember that the $59 is a
LT> "Promotional Price" - In 1 year's time - it is quite likely to be around
LT> say... $99

LT> But Free is good for a website you need a cert for - expecially if you are
LT> planning on just making it a short term site (Yes, there are legit uses for
LT> such animals as well as all the illegal ones) - I wonder what happens if you
LT> just change the hostname every year - get a new free cert etc. ..... - I
LT> think I will try the "Free" process on a site I don't really need it
LT> for..... to see what the full process is.

LT> Also - Their Certs are NOT accepted by NETSTCAPE - or any other browser I
LT> assume - they ONLY claim Compatability with IE 5.01 and above...... - approx
LT> 70% of the market - so if you wan to "annoy 1/3 of your potential
LT> customers......."

LT> They are charging a "small fee" for renewal, but no information on what that
LT> charge is...

LT> Looks interesting though.
