tually Joe, he's right. .com was for commercials and .org was for

Postel and Reynold's laid this out in RFC 920...

"Temporary

ARPA = The current ARPA-Internet hosts.

Categories

GOV = Government, any government related domains meeting the
second level requirements.

EDU = Education, any education related domains meeting the
second level requirements.

COM = Commercial, any commercial related domains meeting the
second level requirements.

MIL = Military, any military related domains meeting the
second level requirements.

ORG = Organization, any other domains meeting the second
level requirements."

True. But when a TLD is created for a purpose, that purpose should be excluded from .ORG. Hence, .NAME removes the need to put personal domains in .ORG, the existence of .COM means that a business entity should not be able to register in .NET or .ORG just because its .COM peer was taken, etc.
