Not all social networks mediated by technology are the same. Friends on MySpace, Connections on LinkedIn, friends on Facebook -- may not be friends - but they are not precluded from being friends by the nature of the mediation. Some friends on Facebook may in fact be real friends. What may start out as 'fake' friends - may end up becoming friends in meatspace. No?
