I currently have a Timbuk2 commute
(http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/commute-tsa-ipad-laptop-messenger-bag),
which has a section for the laptop/power supply and a main section for
anything else I might want to dump inside, as well as a large amount
of various pockets. Provided I don't load it up too much, which is
very tempting with any larger bag, it's pretty lightweight.

You may also want to take a look at:
http://www.carryology.com/category/projects/carry-awards/ for some
recommendations, specifically the work messenger, active messenger,
and work backpack categories.
