Student memberships can very easily be accommodated. $20/month gets you 24/7 access but none of the costly benefits like server space or access to the virtual machine. Access to events would also not be included along with anything else we deem costly to us.
Events have traditional been free but if we include something like a $2 minimum donation for non members to come listen to a talk or attend a hack-a-thon would help out too.
