Don't worry, I like that one too!

Be careful with the opacity on the back. It has to be light enough to scribble over, and even a faint image will still be noticeable. I'd move that whole thing over a smidge so the 'y' on 'technology' doesn't get cut off as much (enough to recognise that it's there, and not mentally replace it with 'technolog'). Otherwise, all good.

Michael,

I know you prefer all white/black, but I think I'm in love with design
1b - it's my favorite in this thread so far. I hope you don't mind,
but I took the liberty of converting it to SVG. Hopefully I didn't mix
anything up in the process:

Feel free to edit, tweek, and reupload the cards as you wish :) I've
been using Inkscape for the card design - it's a fantastic piece of
free open source software for working with vector graphics. The SVGs
for our official logos may also be found here:

The T-Rex may be found in a variety of formats - including SVG - here:

These are roughly what I was talking about, from a quick copy-paste-edit of Jay’s pics. The ‘b’ files have the mailing address removed, because I really don’t think that’s necessary (in the true sense of the word) for a business
card. Lighter is better.

I mentioned just slicing the card in half with a luminosity inversion, but
as you can see it’ll most likely look terrible. I think all-white or
all-black would look best, with the option of using a straight white side or
a big white circle (but not an ellipse) mostly off the canvas.

Sorry for all the attachments, but it’s late and I just want to get to bed.

If the people giving out the cards were always in the habit of writing their number (or the contextually-important member’s number) on the back (in clean
professional numerals!) would remove all concerns about not having such a
valuable potential method of contact &c.
There are a few reasons:
-The number depends on who the person is interested in speaking with
(events, C4, organizational, etc)
-It would be hard to get cards done for everyone who’s phone was needed
-If any numbers change, those cards would be invalidated
-The main SkSp phone is mostly used to check if people are there, when
someone doesn’t want to putter around there alone. Most people who just
happen to be there would have an awkward time just letting random people in
and giving them tours. (Tuesday is much better for that)

Of Jay’s latest, #2.3 is the best one. The logo in 2.0 squishes everything
else horribly, and in 2.2 the curve just kind of separates it. As it is, the
logo in 2.3 looks too low unless you look at it from the right context.

The main difference I see between 1.1 and 2.1 is that one uses white and the
other uses black. What about using an all-white or all-black card? The
typography and the simple accent colour would be the only elements needed to reinforce our brand image. If we wanted some funky dissonance, we could draw a line from the top about a third in to the bottom about two thirds in, and
everything on the right side of that could be inverted to white-on-black.
I’ll play with a couple themes and post them.

We could get a two-sided card sort of like the back of that other one
(http://imgur.com/iHE3J4M), but more like a soft watermark so that it’s easy
to write over. And embiggened so that the left third of the circle and the
tips of the right-most letters clip off the edge?

Sorry Jay, just getting frustrated, mostly with myself, I guess, and I
inadvertently put words in your mouth.

The only reason I could see not to put the space's phone number on the cards would be if there's any difficulty in responding to voicemail. A phone seems
to be a valuable potential method of contact to offer.

Although I understand that Ron and Brittany and others give out their own
phone numbers when taking lead on specific issues, these are "company"
business cards, not personal ... so if a # is provided, it should be the
SkSp line. Is providing it going to hurt anything? At worst, I think it may
clutter the card slightly.

Right, so I see we've entered the passive aggressive phase of the
discussion.

Colin, prepare the Thunder-dome.
