My vote is that you're not getting something, but we'll need more info. But first a disclaimer: sync using software players (SoftSqueeze, Squeezeplay, or squeezeslave) is almost certainly going to be imperfect, with "imperfect" ranging from mildly annoying reverb effects to insanity-producing echo chamber effects. In contrast, the hardware players sync reliably.
Now, for the questions. You say that "no sound ever comes out". - Does that include the SB Receiver as well as the software players? - Are the various SBs (hardware and software) connecting successfully to the server? - If so, do their displays indicate that they _think_ they are playing something?
