I agree with the BOOM in the hallway and Kitchen. Note that there is an input jack in the BOOM that would allow you to play an IPOD through it. Although there would be no need for that related to your IPOD (as I assume all the music on your IPOD would also be on your SqueezeboxServer feeding all the players).
Regarding bathroom. Several people here report using the radio or a boom in the bathroom. I think either would work fine. I have in ceiling speakers in my bath (not built for any special moisture resistance), and they have held up just fine). At most they get a little steam once or twice a day.
