Since it sounds like syncing is your top priority, any solution which involves solely hardware players should work fine. In my house I've had no problems syncing a receiver, radio, boom, and classic together (all connecting wirelessly on a 802.11g network).
For any situation where there's not a compelling reason to use your own speakers, I recommend the boom, to save space. Or if stereo isn't important, the radio.
