If you use squeezeslave-asio, the ASIO card (or in my case, the ASIO driver ASIO4ALL) allows for buffering. ASIO4ALL can be set between 0 and 20ms. AFAIK actual ASIO hardware is more flexible than that. Also - for some time my office was the room adjoining the living room (where the "real" audio system lives). Synchronizing the SB3 and squeezeslave on my PC cause no reverb, etc. effects - even when I'd stand half in and half out the doorway. (This was before there was a squeezeslave-asio.) The PC audio wasn't dinky "PC speakers" whose sound might get overwhelmed by the big system, either (SPDF out to receiver with DAC, analog to a pair of JVC near-field monitors).
