Hi Non. You're right, status quo is status quo. But sometimes new software versions can't be avoided when new hardware requires it.
My point was, it's not hard to guess what would get tossed overboard if support of older products conflicted with needed changes for new stuff. Or, if doing so drained resources needed for higher priority tasks.
