I have to say I find the descriptions of your problem to be very hard to follow.
Can you give some detail about what you mean when you say your Squeezebox has stopped working. It would seem that the display lights up and the unit accepts input from the remote, right? Nevermind that the IP-address changes, that's a red herring, but the fact that you get an IP-address in the right range automatically indicates that quite a lot is healthy. Did you ever verify that the server was actually running on your PC?
