Here is my current lounge setup established after years of not using LMS. The server is on a very old PC in the third bedroom which I use only when I need a Windows machine - rarely, as I use a Chromebook almost all the time. I am typing on it now. Running a big old and power hungry desktop PC 24/7 only for LMS is a bit silly - so I raised this thread. A Raspberry Pi running PiCorePlayer as server or server and client must be a good deal. But there are so many ways forward. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my old Beresford DAC strapped to the back of the TV, and the Quad 77 Integrated Amplifier just goes on and on. The shoebox loudspeakers are compromised by their position and are too small for the room, but the arrangement is domestically tidy and, in this flat, I use headphones most of the time. My old Boom sprang to life when I pulled it out of a cupboard after years of neglect, and I have just received a second Chromecast Audio Dongle unused from a friend. It is currently hooked up to the Clavinova in the second bedroom, and sounds very fine using its internal DAC. It is a crying shame that Google discontinued the audio dongles - they work very reliably with Castbridge.
