There are (or were) DACs for small studio use that had an independent Headphone circuit for monitoring purposes. I'll have a look sometime. No rush, I am content with what I presently have. My Sennheiser HD25 headphones are crystal clear.
I would however like to turn the old PC off - I could run LMS on my wife's Windows laptop which is on 24/7. I'm not proud!
