Thankyou d6jg. You accurately describe my system as I described it in my OP and subsequent posts. I have three Chromecast Dongles on the network. Castbridge automatically found and registered all of them. They become virtual Squeezeboxes thanks to the brilliance of the Castbridge Plugin. Of course they do not have a screen, but neither did the early Squeezebox Receiver. I control my whole system from the web interface in the browser in the Chromebook on which I am now typing. I could do the same from my Android Phone or Tablet. https://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_Receiver.html Castbridge is superbly competent. To my surprise it recognises my Chromecast Video Dongle (I have two Audio and one Video Chromecasts), and when I send audio to the video dongle the TV bursts into life and the Album Art and track details are displayed on the screen as the music plays. (Once I change channel on the DAC!) I have only one true Squeezebox - a Boom - my SB3 was stolen. I note there are various ways to create virtual Squeezeboxes and one of the most interesting is perhaps the PloyVestion products https://polyvection.com/en/ which tempt me.
