Agreed. The latest Beresford DACs have lost the functionality I value. The older ones have fixed and variable line outs, so the variable output drives the headphones and the fixed goes to the Quad 77 Integrated Amp with its own volume control. The required functionality could be restored by deploying a separate headphone amp with its own volume control. A passive splitter from the DAC could send the analogue output to phones and amp at the same time. I have not looked, but there could well be headphone amps with pass through. Where there's a will . . .
