hi there
 
do forgive my input here but from what I'm finding. his technical  experience 
and knowledge is of great use. I would welcome him back but explain  to him 
that in no certain terms is he to conduct himself in a conduct which is  
considered by this team as unsatisfactory.
 
you usually find that certain people can be sharp or to the point or even  
completely cold but in the end we can all be that way and carry our  
personalities through emails etc.
 
give him this chance. I'm assuming that we are christian fellows who would  
give him the grace and respect he needs
