The problem occurred before I had VO group together items (in the navigation tab of VO utilities). Specifically, pop-up menus and text were read unreliably (i.e., skipped sometimes), and if I used the left arrow to back up, I would end up at the very bottom of the page.

Can you describe what exactly you mean, when you're saying 'skip content?'

I visited the page using both types of navigation and saw the same content...

thanks so much and have a wonderful day!...

The NPR page can be navigated with Safari 3, also, but be sure you have the group-items-in-web-pages checkbox checked, or VoiceOver will skip content. At least, that happens on my iBook G4.

I have gone to the npr.org page with tiger and safari 2.x and was able to get far enough into the page so I could listen to streaming broadcasts. I still have tiger but updated to safari 3.x and haven't gone back and tried that pae again yet.

Thanks for clarifying. The perplexing thing is that I never had to group items in order to navigate web pages before installing Safari 3. Moreover, Safari still skips items sometimes, even with the grouping option activated.

A URL at which the problem has occurred is NPR.org.

I think my suggestion was to turn on grouping, use Shift- Control-Option-Down to enter each group, use Ctrl-Option-Right or Control-Option-Down to cycle between the items in each group, use Shift-Shift-Control-Option-Up to exit each group as you finish with it, and use Control-Option-Right and Control- Option-Down to move on to the next item or group. Navigation is still unlikely to be perfect, but if you could provide a URL and example content you skip over that might help us confirm if it's a bug or something you happen to be doing wrong.
