So now we have things like simple text editors? Either it is a text
editor like the name implies or it's a word processor.

TextEdit, on the Mac, is a simple word processor. I think,
personally, that it has enough functionality to earn that
designation. All word processors have varying degrees of
functionality, and TextEdit is on the low-end of that, but it still
is more than a text editor.
