each message has a number. the number of messages available is in the title of the mailbox. believe me, it is a better way and you will find that it is.

What is an itemized list? I use arrows to move through folders in one of the three views, list, iconand column all the time and do not feel the need for a top and bottom signal. If voice over has this, it should have these options available by default right out of the box, and also, when in an empty folder, it should say unselected, or no selected item, as when I am in a list of messages, and there is only one message in the list, in mail, or a folder, pressing the up arrow will not read the message or file again, and, maybe it is my misunderstanding of the mac, because I have only had it for a month, but to me, these basic things are very important.
